About
“Hi. My name is Hiram and I’m the real person behind this site. If your career has been anything like mine, you’ve probably reached a point where you feel that you just can’t progress any further without an advanced degree in business – an MBA. Well, I’ve been down that path and would like to pass along a couple of things I learned along the way. So stay awhile and take a look around the site. I think you’ll find some useful tips.”
What Makes this Blog Different?
What makes this blog different is me, a real person who has already struggled with selecting a school, going through the sign-up process, taking the GMAT, and sitting through the classes. I’ve learned a lot along the way.
What you’ll find on this site are articles, videos, and commentary based on personal experience. You’ll also be able to interact with me and the others on this site by leaving comments, asking questions, and maybe even offering a couple of tips of your own.
Do you Have an MBA?
Yep. Pictured at the right is the little piece of parchment that I fought long and hard for – a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Houston.
Through the articles in this blog, you’ll learn why I wanted it, what I had to do to get it, and what it’s done for me since I got it. You’ll also learn where getting an MBA far exceeded my expectations – and where it was a huge disappointment.
Understanding what an MBA can, as well as what it can’t, do for you and your career BEFORE you commit the significant amounts of time and money to get one is critical.
What if I have Questions?
Ask. There are several ways to ask questions, make comments, or give suggestions. If you have a question or comment about a specific article, you can use the public comment form located at the end of the post. These comments can be seen and read by anyone visiting the site.
If you’ve got something you’d rather discuss in private, you can contact me using the “Contact Me” link that’s part of the top menu.
In both cases you’ll be asked to provide your email address. This is so I can respond back (obviously), but it’s also to screen out automated spam robots. Note that providing your email address in a comment does NOT add you to any type of marketing list. If you want to join our News List, there’s a separate double opt-in process for that.
So take a quick look around, read a few articles, and let me know if you’ve got any comments or questions. I’ll get an answer back to you as soon as I can.
